Appleshaw St Peter's

Church of England Primary School

What we do

The Governors’ Role

We have three core functions:

  • To ensure the school has a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • To hold the head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school ;
  • To oversee the financial performance of the school and ensure money is well spent.

We meet as the Whole Governing Body at least once a term and each governor is also a member of one of the two main sub-committees: School Improvement and Resources. These committees also meet at least once a term. Further details on the remit of each committee can be found in their terms of reference and minutes from meetings held during the preceding year can be viewed through links on the Governor Documents page.

The constitution of Appleshaw St. Peter’s Whole Governing Body (WGB) is set out in the Instrument of Government  as adopted in May 2015 (see Governor Documents).
